Below are 40 question to see how well-rounded I am. I’d love to hear your answers. Feel free to post to your blog, give me a shout, and I’ll go take a look.
1. Been to a play: Yes, I was even Snow White in the 8th grade class play. My husband has done volunteer community-theater work ever since I’ve known him, so yeah, we’ve attended a lot of plays over the years.
2. Bungee jumped or something similar: No way. I can evacuate my bowels in a less forceful manner, thank you.
3. Been a mentor/big brother/big sister: No. (I’m not sure they’d want me!)
4. Read at least one of the classics (War and Peace, The Great Gatsby, The Red Badge of Courage, Beowulf, Crime and Punishment, etc): Yes, they made me do this stuff in a college literature class.
5. Stood up for someone publically: Probably. Seems to be the kind of thing I’d do.
6. Been on a major roller coaster: Not eff-ing likely. I don’t care for the damn things. My life is enough of a roller-coaster as it is!
7. Been to a drive-in movie: Yes, many times. (I’m a Baby Boomer!)
8. Done something at a drive-in movie other than watch the movie: Yes, and that’s all I’m going to say about that for the moment.
9. Done volunteer work: Volunteered at Planned Parenthood some years back for a time.
10. Given a toast at a wedding, a eulogy at a funeral, or some similar, meaningful speech: Yes, I spoke at both my mother’s funeral and the funerals of my mother-in-law and my father-in-law.
11. Been to a major sports playoff game: No. The only sport I really enjoy is figure skating.
12. Thrown a costume or theme party: Yes. The beach party we hosted in the middle of the winter was quite a bit of fun. Turn up the heat, wear shorts, throw some sand around the living room….
13. Been on or near the set of a major motion picture: Nope.
14. Taken a compliment well: Yes, I try to.
15. Planted a tree: Well, I’ve watched my husband plant trees. Does that count?
16. Been stung by a jellyfish or something similar in/near the ocean: Thankfully, no.
17. Quit a crappy job: A few times, as a matter of fact. I don’t put up with “crappy” well!
18. Been on a blind date: Yes. Luckily, nothing TOO bad happened!
19. Done something kind and unexpected for a stranger: Yes.
20. Had a major surgery: Yes. I had a hysterectomy through a seven-inch abdominal incision when I was 32.
21. Taken a car/truck road trip that covered at least 6 states: Yes. I’ve done Minnesota to California and Minnesota to Maine. I think both of those covered six states, the Minnesota to Maine one for sure!
22. Been in 4 or more countries: United States, Canada, Mexico…. Does Puerto Rico count? If it does, I’m in. If it doesn’t, I don’t make the cut. You would think with all the international travel my husband does, I would get around more, but I don’t. I’m the one left behind!
23. Spent New Year’s Eve somewhere special: I suppose that naked under the Christmas tree doesn’t count. No, huh? Well, in that case, no.
24. Visited an ancient landmark: No.
25. Been face to face with a celebrity by chance: No, unless you count being seated next to a local news anchor at “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” a few years ago.
26. Given to charity in the past two years: Yes. That’s what my husband and I do instead of buying Christmas gifts for each other.
27. Helped a stray animal: Yes, and I’ve got a couple of the off-spring living in my house!
28. Dated someone you met online: Yes. And that’s all I’m saying about that!
29. Won money on a long shot: No, but I keep hoping. I’ve got my Powerball ticket for tonight’s drawing!
30. Won your office/family/friends NCAA tournament pool: Nope, I suck at those things.
31. Won an award/medal (even if something “small”): I won third place in an essay contest in 8th grade. They must not have had many entries for me to have won a mention in that event! (Does being on the Dean’s List in college every semester count?)
33. Been in the front row for a concert: Nope.
34. Attended a symphony orchestra performance: Yes
35. Caught a criminal in the act and did something about it (reported it, smacked them in the head, etc): How many States in the Union still have sodomy on the books as an illegal act? Never mind…
36. Sung solo on a stage: Never, and let’s not let that happen.
37. Witnessed something supernatural: No, not to my knowledge.
38. Covered for someone (who deserved it) at work: Yes.
39. Overcome a major fear: Yes, I had a morbid fear of doctors until I was in my teens. I not only got over it but went as far as to take up a career in health care.
40. Mailed a surprise care package to a loved one: Yes
