I’m a bit overwhelmed right now. I have company coming to visit from San Diego on Wednesday: my husband’s sister and her two grown daughters, ages 18 and 25. My guest bedroom has been trashed for months because it only gets used for sleeping when I need a place to go to get away from the snoring in the master bedroom. I haven’t even been doing that little nightly transfer too much lately. The bed has been piled high with assorted crap: empty boxes, laundry that needs to be ironed, laundry that needs to go to the dry cleaner, miscellaneous papers, books. The bookshelf? Same thing.

I got the queen-size bed cleaned off enough today to strip the bed and start washing the bedding, from the sheets to the blanket to the bedspread. I got tired of waiting for the bedspread to dry thoroughly in the dryer and took it out of there, draping it in the foyer over some chairs to finish air-drying. Within TWO MINUTES, this lovely tomcat of mine was on top of the spread, proceeding to put down another layer of fresh cat hair. I guess he figures that no bedspread in this house should be without cat fur and he’s just doing his part to help me out!

Bless his little heart!

  1. Thats a really lovely blanker Bonnie..I like the tones.

  2. Interestingly enough, the “blanket” is a quilt handmade in Wisconsin by an Amish woman. I celebrated my 46th birthday at a Bed & Breakfast in Sparta, Wisconsin and Dale and I went out shopping for a quilt to complete our redecorated bedroom. I think what really made the sale was that the little Amish grandmother who sold me the quilt reminded me of my own grandmother. The quilt went home with me.

  3. I know Sparta quite well..it’s near where I live in fact. There is a huge bicycle man statue thing of sorts thst I see every day there and it never ceases to amuse me. My sister is a quilter. She is working on one that is simply breathtaking, I will take a photo of two and show you the work she is doing on it.

  4. I know exactly where you live, southeast of Sparta on Hwy 71!
