Because I’ve Been Asked   Leave a comment

Okay, Nectarfizz gave me this “honest award”  today.  Here are the rules she listed in her post.

Rules:

“When you receive the prize you must write a post showing it, together with the name of who has given it to you, and link them back. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs (or more) that you find brilliant in their content or design. Show their names and links and leave them a comment informing they were prized with ‘Honest Weblog’.  List [if you can and/or dare] at least ten honest things about yourself. And then, pass it on.”

Ok, I pick the following 7 people for always laying it right out there on the line..truth is painful..but they always follow their truth..whatever it may be:

My attempt at honesty:

1.  I will follow these directions because I have an ingrained sense of wanting to follow the rules and at least at one time was somewhat of an approval-seeker.  I was a little goody-two-shoes as a child and a “teacher’s pet.”  Nothing would crush me more traumatically than the disapproval of a teacher.

2.  On the other hand, I now only follow what rules suit me and will not do something just because someone tells me to.  For instance, I will not be tagging seven other people to do this exercise.  You certainly can if you want to, but I wouldn’t put someone on the spot to do this kind of thing.

3.  I like my cats better than a lot of people I know.

4.  I have a sensitive nerve (like when the dentist’s drill hits a sensitive nerve) for people who do not take responsibility for the consequences of their own choices and behavior.

5.  I am uncomfortable with many of my friends and much of my family knowing some of the intimate details of my life.  I don’t want to be judged.  Therefore, that information remains on a “need to know” basis, even though I have the requisite bumper stickers on my car.

6.  I’ve called into work sick in the past because I’ve had a hang-over and have hated myself for it.  (My mother was an alcoholic.)

7.  I have a mild shopping addiction and have clothes and shoes in my closet that I’ve never worn and books on the shelves that I’ve never read.

8.  I have not yet written that letter to my niece expressing my regrets about the murder of her 17-year-old son last month.  The card has been laying here on the counter next to the computer since I bought it last month.  However,  it needs a letter to go with it.   I hate it when someone you haven’t seen or heard from in 18 years sends you a card and just signs her name.  I would like to explain to Holly why I am so out of touch with my blood family in Pennsylvania and that is a hard thing to talk about.  I procrastinate when there is something I don’t want to do.

9.  I am an undisciplined domestic engineer and have a cleaning service come in and clean my house every other week.  I could save us some money if I’d do it myself, but I hate it and only do what I have to: dishes, laundry, litterbox detail, major mess clean-up in between Cleaning Authority visits.

10.  I would probably commit suicide if faced with a personal diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other disease process that would affect my cognitive abilities.  Without my intellect and cognitive functioning, life wouldn’t be worth living for me.

So, there are ten honest things — confessions, if you will — about me.  I’ve fulfilled at least part of what I’ve been “tagged” to do.
